Judith Maizel-Long

Minister

Judith Maizel-Long, our minister, was born and brought up in Derbyshire and she attended Durham University. After training at Queen’s College, Birmingham she was ordained into the Methodist ministry in 1983.

For sixteen years she was a circuit minister, at Leeds, Barnsley and the Dearne Valley in Yorkshire then at  Tunbridge Wells in Kent.

She was then a lecturer in mission and pastoral studies at the South East Institute for Theological Education in Mission & Pastoral Studies, the coordinating secretary for church life at Churches Together in Britain & Ireland and then a director at the Housing Justice organisation. She came to Billericay in September 2008. 

Judith is married to Graham and when not working enjoys photography, visiting art galleries and walking.

Helen Croft

Outreach worker

Helen Croft joined our circuit in April 2010 as an outreach worker, based in Queens Park.

She previously worked for Methodist churches in north Swindon as a lay worker for evangelism and discipleship. 

Helen was brought up in the Rhondda Valley, where other members of her family still live.

She studied at Moorlands College in Dorset, where she gained a BA degree in Applied Theology. 




 

 

 


Ray Skudder

Trainee youth worker

Our youth worker coordinates our work among young people in the church and the local community.

Ray Skudder was born in Basildon and educated at Mayflower School, Southend College and Northampton University. 

Ray is a keen football player and supports his local team, Billericay Town Football Club.

 


Heather Ashworth

Lay assistants

Lay assistants provide pastoral care in the church that complements the minister's work.

Heather Ashworth is a life-long Methodist and member of this church for over 25 years; she has been a junior church teacher and steward. Heather visits people at home and supports church groups, such as our weekly luncheon club.


Philip Gibson

Philip Gibson is also secretary of our pastoral committee and a local (lay) preacher. Philip works part time at a local magistrates court. For relaxation he enjoys music, theatre, gardening and sport. He supports Bradford City Football Club.


Elizabeth Hardy

Elizabeth Hardy visits and cares for the people of Queens Park in the church and the wider community. She supports our family 'drop-in' and Coffee Pot groups and is part of the local hospital chaplaincy team. Elizabeth enjoys reading, crosswords and music.
